Spooky Season | Easy Couples Halloween Costumes

Hey y’all! Can you believe in the 403948092 years that Drew and I have been together that I’ve only gotten him to dress up for Halloween TWICE? Halloween is my third favorite holiday (behind my birthday and my birthday week) so I am all about it. I love candy, I love pumpkins, and I love couples costumes so honestly it’s my IDEAL celebration. Drew, on the other hand, hates fun, so…

Just kidding, he’s a great sport! But… for some reason when I ordered my children’s size 8-10 founding father costume so I could dress up as Alexander Hamilton, he didn’t want to be George Washington. If you’re like us (aka one fun person and one lame person), here are a few SUPER easy couples Halloween costumes:

SANDY & DANNY FROM GREASE

Admittedly, this is the simplest couple costume of all time.

For Sandy:
1. HAIR & MAKEUP. Curl your hair in SUPER tight curls. Tease it until you’re in danger of never being able to brush it again. Put on a red lipstick that will offend your mom.
2. OUTFIT. You need some kind of all black outfit. Black off-the-shoulder top and black pants (leather leggings are ideal). Leather jacket is NON-NEGOTIABLE.
3. SHOES. In the movie, Sandy wears these high-heeled flip flops that are basically impossible to find outside of 1987. Any kind of retro-looking heels, mules, or sling-backs will work.

For Danny:
1. HAIR. Put a ridiculous amount of gel in it and slick back like a kid from The Outsiders. (Drew’s hair was really short, so I settled for him dressing up even a little bit).
2. OUTFIT. Keeping it SUPER simple here: just wear all black. In the movie, Danny wears a SUPER tight tee/tank hybrid, so Drew is actually wearing a workout tank inside out. Finish with black pants or dark jeans, whichever brings less of an argument.
3. SHOES. Black dress shoes are preferred, but I’ve seen people do the costume with black converse and it looks okay, too.

When you take a picture, say “Tell me about it, stud,” in your breathiest voice, and have your Danny look SUPER impressed. Or settle for mild surprise/happiness, which is what I did here.

BABY & JOHNNY FROM DIRTY DANCING

Let me answer two questions right off the bat:
Do we only do costumes from 80s movies? Yes.
Is Drew wearing the same outfit for this costume? Also yes.

For Baby
1. HAIR & MAKEUP. Tease, tease, tease, my friend. I just did normal makeup here since Baby doesn’t really wear a lot in the movie.
2. OUTFIT. Okay, so I actually had to buy this outfit. Weirdly, I didn’t have a pink dress or puffy skirt in my closet. To make my search easier, I found a pink tank and child-sized skirt from Target and I think it turned out PRETTY WELL.
3. SHOES. You really just need some kind of low-heel or kitten heel shoes. I already had these rose gold heels from a wedding I was in, so I thought they looked nice here.

For Johnny (I’m just going to copy and paste from Danny)

3. SHOES. Black dress shoes. You can’t wear converse here. Johnny was a PROFESSIONAL. He would never be out wearing sneakers.

When you take a photo, make sure you do a running leap at your spouse like they do in the movie. When that doesn’t work out, Google a picture of the movie poster and recreate that instead.
