If you’re like me, you spend a lot of time in January and February counting down the days until spring. The days are short, the weather is cold, and it’s all around a real bummer. However, this year, I’ve started doing some things that have really helped keep my energy up and my attitude better this winter and I’m going to share them with you! We’re counting down my 5 best tips because I feel like counting down is more dramatic, so here we GO:
5. Start a workout PROGRAM
PROGRAM is the keyword here. I think this part has been my biggest problem in the past: wanting to workout but not having a dang clue where to start. Invest in yourself and get started with a program; don’t just get a gym membership and show up if you don’t have a plan. I’ve been doing Nike Training Club’s 6 week program and I am LIVING! I’ve also heard great things about Orangetheory Fitness, Pure Barre, and Rush Cycle, so I plan on trying those at some point too.
4. Get into a routine
This is another big one: be CONSISTENT. Get a planner, put together a schedule and STICK TO IT! I found a great planner at TJ Maxx where I have places for to do lists, monthly/weekly goals, and reminders. On Mondays I even write in “The Bachelor” in my planner because I like looking forward to things! Also, it helps if you go to bed and wake up around the same time every day too (that way you don’t feel dependent on the sun which sets at noon and rises at 11am in January. like I said, a real bummer).
3. Find a winter skin regimen that works for you
One of my biggest causes of strife in the winter has ALWAYS been dealing with winter skin and all the fun problems that come with it. I went through a lot of great winter beauty tips here, but the key is finding a good routine that works for you and your skin type. Hydration, hydration, hydration.
2. Schedule fun things
Like I said earlier, it’s always good to have fun things on your calendar. Schedule a trip to somewhere warm in the winter months and soak up some sun! A little bit of sun is good for you, especially in the winter. Track flight and hotel deals and when something comes up, take the opportunity! You won’t regret it.
1. Try a healthy energy alternative!
I am a coffee gal all the way, but I recently had the opportunity to try out MATI, and I am OBSESSED. MATI is a certified organic, sugar-free, and 100% delicious energy drink. It’s craft-brewed locally in NC, and they just launched 3 new flavors that are zero calories. They have flavors for everyone- my personal fave is Tropical Pineapple. I’m adding this to my afternoon routine when I start to lose steam- I work out in the evenings so MATI is a great boost of energy. #TeamMATI all the way.
*This post was not sponsored by MATI- just a really great product I wanted to share!
